What is the Iowa Test?

Based on the name you may think the Iowa test is a special form of assessment tool conducted among kindergarten and elementary children in Iowa. On the contrary, the Iowa test, commonly known as the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills or ITBS, is highly recommended for use in all private and public schools in the country.
The Iowa test tackles almost every subject area there is in the elementary grades such as math, history, reading, language, and science. These core subject areas are considered the most important in basic education which is why they’re included in the items found in ITBS.

The Iowa test is varied. There are simple question and answer items and exercises. Meanwhile, there are also those that require critical thinking skills especially those that involve solving math problems and interpreting maps and graphs.
