Houston Independent School District (HISD) Vanguard Magnet and Other Gifted and Talented Testing

For families living in Houston, Texas, the Houston Independent School District (HISD) offers the districtwide Vanguard Magnet Program for gifted children serving students in grades K – 12. If you are applying to the Vanguard Magnet Program for Kindergarten, your child will take the Woodcock Johnson III Tests of Achievement® and the Wechsler Nonverbal Scale of Ability®. Neighborhood schools in the HISD also have their own gifted and talented programs. To qualify for these programs, children must earn qualifying scores on the Naglieri Non-Verbal Ability Test® (NNAT®) and the Stanford Achievement Test.
